To acquire a certificate authenticating your observation, all you need to do is provide your name and exact location.

Your certificate will document the exact start and end times of the eclipse from your position on Earth and exactly how much of the Moon covered the Sun during maximum coverage from your location. (If you were in the path of totality, then the coverage will read 100%.)

Our chief astronomer, associate astronomer, and principal archivist will then review all the information for scientific accuracy and authenticity and, after careful examination, will sign and date the document. Please read the FAQ below to find out if your observation qualifies for a certificate of authentication.
